Kamala Harris went on national television this week and blamed President Trump for rising gas prices. This is the same Kamala Harris who, while serving as Vice President, looked directly into a camera and said that high gas prices were “the price to pay for democracy” during the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
So when YOUR administration does it, it’s patriotism. When the other guy inherits YOUR economy, it’s a crisis. Got it, Kamala. Very consistent. Very principled.
We should really just play the two clips back to back on a loop at every gas station in America. On one screen: Kamala in 2022, smiling, telling you to suck it up because expensive gas is the cost of freedom. On the other screen: Kamala in 2026, furrowing her brow, demanding to know why Trump is letting gas prices hurt American families.
Same woman. Same gas pumps. Completely opposite talking points.
Whoa! Almost like she doesn’t actually have any principles at all!
This is the thing about Kamala Harris that drives everyone crazy — and we mean everyone, including the Democrats who watched her crash and burn in the presidential primary before she even made it to Iowa. She doesn’t have positions. She has whatever the teleprompter says today. Her entire political identity is a weathervane bolted to a pantsuit.
When Biden needed someone to defend $5 gas, Kamala stepped up and told Americans it was their patriotic duty to pay more at the pump. Democracy demanded it. Freedom isn’t free, and apparently neither is a gallon of regular unleaded.
Nobody bought it then, either. But she said it. On camera. With conviction. Like she actually believed it.
Now that she’s out of power and desperate to claw her way back to relevance, gas prices are suddenly a tragedy. A scandal. An outrage that demands accountability — from Trump, of course. Not from the administration that spent four years waging war on American energy production, canceling pipeline permits, restricting drilling leases, and begging Saudi Arabia and Venezuela to pump more oil so we didn’t have to use our own.
(Remember when Biden fist-bumped MBS after calling Saudi Arabia a “pariah state”? Pepperidge Farm remembers. So does the video.)
The Biden-Harris administration came into office and immediately started kneecapping domestic energy. They killed the Keystone XL pipeline on day one. They paused federal oil and gas leases. They stacked the EPA with activists who treated every drilling permit like a war crime. They did everything in their power to make it harder and more expensive to produce American energy.
And when gas prices predictably spiked? Kamala told you it was the price of democracy.
Now she wants you to forget all of that. She wants you to look at the gas pump, see a number you don’t like, and blame Donald Trump — the president who’s actually trying to unleash American energy production, approve pipelines, and get us back to energy dominance.
The hypocrisy is so thick you could spread it on toast.
But here’s what’s really going on. Kamala Harris is auditioning. She got demolished in the 2024 election, and now she’s trying to rebuild her brand for whatever comes next. Governor? Senator again? Another presidential run where she drops out before the first vote? Who knows. But the playbook is always the same: find a pain point, blame the Republican, and hope nobody checks the receipts.
Well, we checked the receipts. And the receipts are on video.
“The price to pay for democracy.” That’s what she called it. She wasn’t apologizing for high gas prices. She wasn’t promising to fix them. She was telling you that YOUR financial pain was a noble sacrifice for the greater good — a sacrifice she personally never had to make, by the way, because the Vice President doesn’t pay for her own gas.
Must be nice.
So the next time you see Kamala Harris on your TV screen, wagging her finger about gas prices and blaming Trump, just remember: this is a woman who told you to shut up and pay more when her team was in charge. She didn’t care about your wallet then. She doesn’t care about it now. She cares about the camera, the soundbite, and the headline.
The only thing that’s changed is which party she’s blaming.
Same gas prices. Same Kamala. Different script. And the American people aren’t falling for it — which is exactly why she lost the last election by a landslide and will lose the next one too, assuming she can make it past the primary this time.
Don’t hold your breath.
