An Alarming Number of Americans Believe Non-Citizens Are Voting

Democrats insist that non-citizens are not voting in elections, but Americans aren’t buying it. A recent J.L. Partners poll found that an astonishing 48% of likely voters believe that illegal immigrants are voting in elections.

But surely these conspiracy theorists are crazy Trump-supporting Republicans? Hold on to your MAGA hats – 30% of Kamala Harris supporters think illegals are voting.

And according to mounting evidence from across the nation, they may be right.

In Maricopa County, Arizona, it was revealed that 97,000 voters were registered without proof of citizenship. Not so long ago, Maricopa was at the center of one of American history’s largest voter fraud schemes.

Since 2004, Arizona has required voters to prove they are U.S. citizens. But if someone with an older driver’s license registers to vote, the MVD assumes they already have that proof on file and lets them vote a full ballot. This mistake has allowed some people to skirt the system for years.

Ironically, the recorder’s office wants to allow these people to vote on a federal ballot only, not a full one. A federal ballot only includes elections for the president, U.S. senator, and U.S. House of Representatives, instead of all elections like state and local ones. In other words, state officials want to curb illegal voting for local offices like Dog Catcher but allow them to vote in the most critical elections in the country.

Besides, these officials argue, it’s too late. What’s done is done, and it’s too late to change the rules before the 2024 election.

If you let go of your MAGA hat, you may want to hold it again. Maricopa County is just one example of illegal voting irregularities trickling in.

County election officials in Oregon said they recently removed non-U.S. citizens from voter lists after finding out last week that the state had mistakenly registered at least 306 illegals since 2021. Republicans noted they warned that the state’s election laws were too lax for years.

Three hundred voters probably wouldn’t tip the election results, but Senate Minority Leader Daniel Bonham thinks this is just the beginning. He urged Governor Tina Kotek to set stricter rules for managing voter lists. He warned that if these errors continue, it could raise doubts about the accuracy and security of Oregon’s elections.

In 2016, Oregon started a “motor voter” law that automatically registers people to vote when they get or renew a driver’s license. In 2019, Oregon Democrats passed a law allowing noncitizens to obtain driver’s licenses.

Oregon has more than three million registered voters, and officials are working to clean up their lists.

Boston, Massachusetts, is known for the famous Boston Tea Party, Harvard, and stick-to-your-ribs clam chowder. Recently, it was revealed that Boston has also had issues with non-citizen voters on its rolls. A study showed a pattern of voter registration being offered to foreign nationals at DMV offices.

In August, Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin signed an order to strengthen election security in the state. He mentioned that since becoming governor, Virginia has found and removed more than 6,000 noncitizens registered to vote.

Welfare offices and other agencies in at least 46 U.S. states are giving voter registration forms to migrants without asking for proof of citizenship.

Every state, except for North Dakota, New Hampshire, Wisconsin, and Wyoming, gives people applying for welfare benefits, driver’s licenses, or mail-in ballots federal voter registration forms without requiring proof of citizenship. Currently, federal voting forms don’t ask for proof of U.S. citizenship, although it’s illegal for non-citizens to vote or falsely claim citizens.

Many migrants with humanitarian parole, refugee, or asylum status can get benefits. Applying for these benefits brings them to the offices where they are given voter registration forms.

The National Voter Registration Act (NVRA) of 1993 requires states to help people register to vote at the DMV and places where people apply for public benefits. These offices must give out voter registration forms along with the application papers. If someone says they are a U.S. citizen, they are registered to vote. Some states, like Virginia, Tennessee, and New Mexico, require applicants to provide a Social Security number to register.

It’s important to understand that non-citizens generally don’t vote in elections. The fear is that Democrats will commandeer the vacant ballots, fill them out, and send them in. With Democrats already sending thousands of ballots to shopping malls, vacant lots, and gas stations, it’s not a stretch to believe they could grab millions of unclaimed illegal immigrant ballots as well.
