Vice President Kamala Harris borrowed a page from Donald Trump’s playbook on Saturday. She announced to Nevada’s hotel, restaurant, and service workers that she plans to eliminate taxes on tips, mirroring a proposal Trump made just weeks earlier.

Harris made this groundbreaking revelation at a rally at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas—where, ironically, the local economy thrives on tips. In a classic move of deflection, Harris’s campaign promised that any plan to nix tip taxes would come with a minimum wage hike and a labyrinth of safeguards to keep the wealthy from gaming the system. In other words, Harris’s proposal is just another convoluted mess wrapped in a billion bureaucratic hoops—ensuring it’ll never actually see the light of day.

Trump, who had suggested the tip tax repeal during his June visit to Nevada, quickly took to Truth Social to accuse Harris of merely copying his proposal in a bid to appeal to service industry workers in Las Vegas. He mocked Harris for lacking originality, suggesting her move was a desperate attempt to align herself with popular policies.

“Kamala has no imagination whatsoever, as shown by the fact that she played ‘COPYCAT’ with, NO TAXES ON TIPS!” he wrote.

Trump quickly criticized Harris, claiming she’s only making these promises for political gain and won’t follow through. “She won’t do it; she just wants it for political purposes!” he stated. “This was a TRUMP idea—she has no ideas, she can only steal from me.”

Trump predicted that Harris would soon start adopting more of his policies, like making Social Security payments tax-free. Trump expressed doubt about her originality and seemed to take pleasure in anticipating her next move, speculating that it would likely involve another of his ideas, rebranded as her own.
